Lake Windermere is the largest lake in England situated in the county of Cumbria and the Lake District National Park. Bowness-on-Windermere is the only town on the lakeshore. Lake Windermere was formed 13,000 years ago by two glaciers. Lake Windermere is is 18.08 km (11.23 mi) in length and up to 1.49 km (0.93 mi) in width.
