The Louvre Museum or Musée du Louvre is one of the largest museums in the world. The Louvre Museum attracts more than 8 million visitors a year. With so many visitors the lines to the entrance by the Pyramid can be long and you will have to wait awhile to get into the Louvre Museum. Want to avoid the long lines and queues? I have found 3 ways to do this including two secret Louvre Museum entrances.
- The first is not a secret entrance but a way to avoid the lines and queues. Purchase a Paris Museum Pass which allows you to skip the cash desk and enter the Louvre Museum directly.
- The second way is to use the Porte des Lions Louvre Museum secret side entrance. For a detailed map click here. This entrance is only open on certain days.
- The third Louvre Museum secret entrance I found was to use the shopping center entrance underneath the Louvre Museum called Carrousel du Louvre. Carrousel du Louvre is located at 99 Rue de Rivoli in the 1st arrondissement. If you are taking the Paris Metro stop at Palais Royal – Musée du Louvre and follow the signs to Musée du Louvre. The secret entrance is near the Apple store.
