The Deansgate Package is a football VIP hospitality package offered by Manchester United for certain fixtures at Old Trafford that stand out such as big cup ties, local derbies and title run-ins. The Deansgate Package prices are either £199 or £299 depending on the fixture. Its rather expensive but does include additional benefits such as:
- Champagne on arrival
- Three-course meal
- Return executive coach travel from the Hilton Deansgate to Old Trafford
- Matchday ticket
- Complimentary bar pre & post-match
- Selection of cheese & biscuits served post-match
- Post-match analysis from a Manchester United Former Player
- Matchday programme and gift
- 10% discount merchandise voucher
The match I attended was Man Utd vs Swansea City and was the final home game of the 2011/2012 season. I arrived at the Deansgate Hilton and collected my access ticket to the area where the meal was being served. Upon arrival I was shown to my table only to find out that there was a mix up and my seat had been taken. After waiting a few minutes I was assigned a new table and was given a bag of goodies that included my ticket to the game, a key ring gift, match-day programme and my 10% discount voucher for the megastore. The seats are on the East Stand which is opposite the famous Stretford End. Its on the second tier which is not the closest to the pitch but certainly not the worst.
We were given a menu with choice of meals to choose from and while waiting for the meal we were asked to complete a quiz on various questions relating to sport. After the 3 course meal was served we made our way to the busses which transported us to the game. We arrived well before kick off which allowed some exploring of the stadium and also in time to watch the warm up. After watching the game which was won by Manchester United 2-0 with goals from Paul Scholes and Ashley Young we made our way back to the bus and we were transported back to the Deansgate Hilton. After a short 5 minute Q&A by the after dinner speaker the event was over and people just stayed around and enjoyed the complimentary bar.
This was my first trip to Old Trafford to watch Manchester United. The Deansgate Package is rather expensive and not worth the price. However, its a great way to secure your ticket for the big fixtures which are almost impossible to get your hands on through normal channels. The reason for this is that first preference is given to Manchester United Club Members and then its a lottery draw for tickets so even if you are a member you are not guaranteed a ticket.
It should be noted that there are other hospitality packages which are cheaper and take place at Old Trafford. The Deansgate package is only available when a big demand is anticipated. The entire experience was memorable as it was my first trip to watch Manchester United but I would probably never go for the Deansgate Package due to its price and value unless there was no other way to secure a ticket or a cheaper hospitality package available.
