This is an aerial view of the Colorado River in Arizona, taken on my way back to Las Vegas from a day trip to the Grand Canyon. The Colorado River is 2,330 km long that runs through seven U.S. and two Mexican states. The depth of the river varies from 6 feet to 90 feet. The average depth is 20 feet. The Colorado River was originally named Rio Colorado or “Red River” by the Spanish because the river was originally a red colour. This is no longer the case as the silt and sediments that gave the river its colour is trapped behind the Glen Canyon Dam.
