Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a tree outside the Rockefeller Center in New York. The placement of a Christmas Tree outside the Rockefeller Center began in the depression era when workers during the construction of the Rockefeller Center placed a smaller 6.1m tree outside.

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is usually lit in November or December with a live broadcast on NBC. The type of Christmas Tree used is usually a Norway spruce, 21 to 30m tall. A star is placed on top of the tree which is 2.9m in diameter. The star is a Swarovski Star created by German artist Michael Hammers.
